About the Project

Set on a slope above Manzanita Beach, this home was designed to make the most of its view down to the shore. Our clients wanted an open, light-filled home with natural materials on display, so the design centers on exposed glulam beams and a decorative plywood ceiling.

The glulam structure spans the main living space, allowing an open-concept layout without interior walls blocking the view. Overhead, the plywood ceiling adds warmth and texture, and it turns the structure into part of the interior design.

We used the slope of the site to our advantage, stepping the home so the main living areas look out over the beach. At about 1,500 square feet, the Manzanita Beach House is a compact coastal home where every room feels connected to the ocean.
